We’re heading west!

In the next few weeks Maya and Jaimie will be creating a series of Interactive Shadow Installations in Vancouver. These installations rely on audience participation and build collective stories about architecture and the human body, the memory of land, the urban and the imaginary landscape and how we live and move in these spaces.

We’re pleased to be working with Vancouver based sound artist Paul Bennett on each of these shows.

Here’s were you can find us!

Saturday June 16 and Sunday June 17, 10:00am – 5:00pm

A Journey in Shadow

Family Fuse Weekend at the Vancouver Art Gallery

Join Montreal-based Mere Phantoms in creating the city of your wildest imagination. Build a 3D shadow puppet to add to the collaborative installation, and use handheld lights to cast shadows large and small as we embark on A Journey in Shadow.

Friday July 6, 9:00pm-1:00am

Loop City

Fuse at the Vancouver Art Gallery

This interactive shadow installation invites the audience to contemplate and respond to the systematic, regulated, and gridded nature of city living. Situated inside of a human-scale shadow-box this piece explores what happens when pathways become grids, dwellings become cubicles, and movements become regulated.

Saturday July 21, 9:00-10:30pm

Shadow Box – A City of Lanterns

Illuminaires Lantern Festival at Trout Lake Park

Join Montreal-based Mere Phantoms in creating a shadow installation in the park. At a hands-on workshop participants will create intricate paper cutouts and 3D shadow puppets to add to an interactive shadow-installation. The installation, Shadow Box – A City of Lanterns will be at featured at Illuminairies where the public will be invited to activate, illuminate, and animate the installation.

Workshop:  Saturday July 7, 2:00-4:30pm (Trout Lake Community Centre)

Installation: Saturday July 21, 9:00-10:30pm (Trout Lake Park)
